Hi, I’m Delight Rogers
When I first discovered mixed media, I didn’t have formal art training.
I didn’t have a studio space.
And I wasn’t confident in my ability to draw.
What I did have was a deep curiosity about story, and a longing to create in a way that felt honest and personal.
Alongside my life as an artist and teacher, I became a certified art therapy practitioner.
For many years, I have struggled with my own grief and loss.
That work has shaped me profoundly, and it informs how I teach and hold creative space today.
In Personal Portraits, the focus is on working with materials that already carry meaning, and allowing your story to surface in its own time.
This is not therapy.
It’s an invitation to create with care, letting the art hold what matters.
I live in a small village in Northern Ontario, surrounded by forest and water.
The stillness of this place often finds its way into my work and my teaching.
I love holding space for people to reconnect with their creativity in meaningful ways, and to create something that feels like a love letter to themselves.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I’m a complete beginner. Will this be too advanced?
Not at all. This workshop was designed with beginners in mind. The pace is relaxed, and every step is clearly demonstrated. Even if you’ve never made a mixed media portrait before, you’ll find it approachable, forgiving, and most importantly joyful.
I can’t draw faces. Will I still be able to do this workshop?
Yes, absolutely. You don’t need to know how to draw at all. Inside the lessons, I show you two simple ways to transfer a photograph right onto your canvas — no sketching required. From there, you’ll be gently guided through painting and layering until your portrait starts to come alive. Most participants are surprised by how natural it feels once they begin.
When can I start, and how long will I have access?
You can start the moment you register. Every lesson is ready and waiting inside your course hub, so there’s no need to wait for scheduled classes. And you’ll have ongoing access, meaning you can return to the materials as often as you wish, your creative journey can unfold on your own timeline.
What supplies do I need?
More than likely you already have what you need on hand and we encourage you to be innovative and use what you have. However, you can access the detailed supply list here.
Will this course have a discussion group?
This workshop includes access to a private online community, Creative Delight Studio Facebook Group. This is a forum for members of the Creative Delight Studio community. Ask questions, share your stories, and enjoy benefiting from the encouragement and wisdom of others.

You’ll learn how to create a deeply personal mixed media portrait that tells your story, one that weaves together your memories, textures, colours, and emotions. You’ll explore:

Once I sign up, when will I receive my login?
You will first receive a confirmation email as soon as you sign up. Login instructions will be sent to the email you used during registration. If it's the first time you are taking one of my classes, you will receive a random password for the classroom site. Once you are logged in, you will be able to go into your settings and change the password to your liking. If you are a returning student, the class will be automatically added to your existing member account, provided that you have used the same email address when registering.
How do I view the content?
You can access the lessons and video from most mobile devices and computers with high speed internet. The videos will be hosted online on an easy to use platform called Simplero and can be accessed through the Simplero App.
