I am excited to share something very personal with you today: my recent interview with Natalie Jewkes for the Coffee Love Sunshine Summit. It was a conversation that touched on many themes close to my heart—art, healing, intuition, and the power of community. We talked about the layers of life we all navigate and how art can offer a path to peace, healing, and connection.

Natalie’s kindness and openness created such a beautiful space for us to explore these ideas together. If you’ve ever wondered how creativity can be a lifeline during hard times or how intuition can guide us to the next right step, I think you’ll really enjoy this interview. Below, I’ve included the video so you can watch and feel inspired.

  • Following Intuition & Life’s Unexpected Paths
I shared a bit about my transition from portrait photography and teaching into art and art workshop creation. It was an intuitive shift that happened naturally, almost instinctively, during a time when I needed healing the most. Art became my way of processing emotions I couldn’t put into words. It was the next step on my journey, even though I didn’t know it at the time.

  • Healing in Layers
We talked about how both grief and healing happen in layers. My mixed media art practice reflects that process—adding one layer at a time, stepping away to reflect, and coming back with fresh eyes. I’ve found so much comfort in that process, and it’s the foundation of all of my workshops, where participants create using personal materials using intuitive collage techniques.

  • The Power of Community
During the interview, Natalie and I discussed the importance of safe spaces—whether physical or virtual—where people feel free to express themselves without fear of judgment. I believe this is at the heart of everything I do in my workshops. When we gather, whether online or in person, something sacred happens. We connect, support one another, and witness each other’s journeys.

  • The Freedom of Mixed Media Art
One of the joys of mixed media is that there are no rules. You don’t need to be an expert, have prior experience, or even a plan. Some of the most beautiful things I’ve created were born from a happy accident or an unexpected shift in direction. That freedom is also a metaphor for life—things rarely turn out the way we expect, but they can still be beautiful and meaningful.
