There’s something about this time of year that invites us to slow down and notice again.
As the seasons begin to shift and the first signs of spring return, I am finding myself drawn outside more often… paying attention to the small things I might have missed just weeks ago.
The way the light lingers a little longer.
The ground beginning to soften.
Tiny hints of green pushing through.

This is where Soul Foraging begins.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a series I call Soul Foraging.
A way of gathering small moments from the world around you… and slowly bringing them into your creative life.
Not in a rushed or structured way.
Not with any pressure to make something “good.”
But simply as a way of noticing… and allowing that noticing to become something more.
Soul Foraging is not about searching for something specific.
It’s about being present enough to notice what is already here.
A shift in the air.
A memory that surfaces unexpectedly.
A feeling you can’t quite name yet, but recognize in your body.
These small moments often pass by unnoticed.
But when we begin to pay attention, they start to gather.
And over time, they begin to form something meaningful.
For me, Soul Foraging began during a time when I felt a little disconnected from my creativity.
As women, we learn to hold space for others, but we often do not offer that same space to ourselves.
So one day, I stepped outside simply needing a pause.
I wasn’t trying to create anything.
But I noticed something small… and allowed myself to stay with it.
And in that quiet moment, something shifted.
From there, this way of noticing became something I returned to again and again.
Not starting with ideas…
but starting with attention.
For me, Soul Foraging grew out of a desire to reconnect with my creativity in a way that felt less pressured and more intuitive.
There were times when sitting down to create felt heavy.
Like I needed to have an idea, a plan, or a clear direction before I even began.
But what I discovered, slowly, over time, is that creativity doesn’t need to begin with knowing.
It can begin with noticing.
With collecting small impressions.
With allowing something to catch your attention… and staying with it just a little longer.

This is a sneak peak at a new lesson that I will be sharing soon at a free event!
Nature has become one of my greatest teachers in this.
The way something grows without rushing.
The way nothing blooms all at once.
The way everything unfolds in its own time.

There’s a softness to it.
A patience.
And when I allow myself to move at that same pace, something shifts.
Creativity begins to feel less like something I have to do…
and more like something I’m in conversation with.
As you move through your day, you might simply notice what is beginning to emerge around you.
Not what is fully formed.
Not what is finished.
Just what is starting.
A color that catches your eye.
A texture.
A small moment that lingers.
You don’t need to do anything with it.
Just notice.
🌱 A Small Soul Foraging Practice

If you’d like to explore this in a simple way, here’s something you can try.
The next time you step outside, or even look out a window, pause for just a few minutes.
Let your attention settle.
Notice what draws your eye first.
It might be something small.
A color.
A shape.
A shift in light.
Something just beginning.
Stay with it a little longer than you normally would.
You don’t need to understand it.
You don’t need to turn it into anything.
Just notice what it stirs in you.
A feeling.
A memory.
A quiet sense of something you can’t quite name yet.
If you feel like it, you might write a few words down…
or simply carry it with you through the day.
This is often how creative work begins for me.
If something in this way of noticing feels meaningful to you…
and you find yourself curious about exploring it a little further,
you’re welcome to step into the beginning of my Soulful Stories workshop.

I’ve opened up the first part for you to explore,
a quiet, guided place to begin creating and discovering your own visual story, using materials you likely already have.
You can explore it whenever it feels right.
