Exploring the Power of Intuitive Collage with a New Mini Muse

MINI MUSE THUMBNAIL

One with Nature ~ a new mini muse!

It’s been over a year since I created a mini muse. I don’t know why I’ve waited so long! I absolutely love the process of creating on a tiny little substrate. I’d forgotten just how fun and free the process is. I love working with the tiny scraps of paper and fabric, and how just the littlest detail can change so much. Being able to start and finish a piece of art no matter the size feels really good.

Creating intuitive collage art is such a deeply healing process. It connects you with your inner self, offering a special escape from the circling thoughts in your mind, and your worries.  You don't need to plan or think too much when creating like this. Instead, let your feelings guide you, and allow your intuition to take the lead.

WATCH - EXPLORING THE POWER OF INTUITIVE COLLAGE

WHY INTUITIVE COLLAGE?

• The images and colours you choose can convey emotions more strongly than words, making you feel them on a deeper level.

• Allows you to release emotions, even if you’re not yet aware of them

• Helps you accept parts of yourself that you usually keep hidden.

• Express different aspects of your personality

• You can understand and organize your emotions better.

No artistic skills are needed.

I like to gather what I call an inspiration bundle of little bits of paper, textile and ephemera that will be lead the way in my muse creation.  Set yourself up in a comfortable space where you can work undisturbed. Sit down, take a few deep breaths, and feel the calmness surrounding you. This is your time to relax and let go.

Begin by cutting and tearing the paper. Choose colours and images that speak to you without overthinking. As you place these pieces on your substrate, listen to your inner voice. Trust your instincts. Let things flow naturally. There is no right or wrong in this process. It's about expressing your inner emotions and thoughts.

This act of creation helps release pent-up emotions. As you work, you might feel a sense of relief and calm. The repetitive motions of cutting, tearing and pasting can be soothing, bringing a peaceful rhythm to your mind. It’s a quiet, personal dialogue between you and your art.

Intuitive collage art also improves your focus. When you're engrossed in selecting and arranging pieces, you stay present in the moment. This mindfulness can significantly reduce stress and anxiety. You might find yourself feeling lighter and more centered after a session. There's also a sense of accomplishment and joy in seeing your artwork come together.

Working with your hands in this way can be meditative. It slows down your racing thoughts, allowing a sense of calm to wash over you. This tranquility often extends to other areas of your life, making you feel more balanced and grounded.

Ultimately, creating intuitive collage art is a journey of self-discovery and healing. Each mini muse I create is a reflection of my inner world in that moment. Embrace the process and enjoy the peace it brings. Let your art be a gentle conversation with your soul, guiding you toward greater self-awareness and emotional well-being.

It took me about an hour and 20 minutes to complete this mini muse. I did it over three different sessions, on three different days. I edited it down to just 10 minutes to show you some of the highlights and the different techniques and processes that I used.

Enjoy!
