Hold Space for Your Art and Soul

art classes can be both a refuge and a ritual, a space where creativity meets self-care

Art has a way of speaking to the deepest parts of us, doesn’t it? Our creative processes are about so much more than making art, they are about mending and nurturing our inner worlds.

We all love joining art classes, right? I certainly do. Sometimes, it feels like a real battle to carve out the time, but the rewards are always worth it. Life can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions and events, and finding those quiet moments to breathe and create can seem impossible. That’s where the art class comes in.

For me, joining an art class is like giving myself the perfect gift, one that only I can give. It’s like lighting a candle in a dark room—suddenly, the space is filled with art supplies, love, and light. Taking regular time to work on an art class can become a cherished ritual, a time dedicated to nurturing my creative spirit. There’s healing and magic in learning new things and giving yourself this time.

Joining an art class is also about setting boundaries to protect your peace. It’s an act of self-love, allowing you the time to tune into your needs and become more self-aware. It’s about giving yourself the space to be fully you, without judgment.

You might have noticed the term "holding space" being used more often lately, especially as more people share their spiritual journeys online.

Our tendency as humans is to offer up advice, especially if someone that we care about is in crisis. However, there is so much power in simply holding space for a person to voice their concerns, troubles, or feelings. Simply put holding space means showing up for someone, being fully present and without judgment as you sit with that person through their difficult time. Regardless of if you agree with their actions or whether or not you have an opinion on the situation, you remain neutral, empathetic, and merciful.

And it’s true—when we don’t give others (or ourselves) the space to check in and express emotions, it can be the difference between experiencing a full-on crisis or finding calm. Trust me, I’ve been there, and I know how vital this space is.

Hold Space for Your Art & Soul

photo-1517346665566-17b938c7f3adThe Personal Portraits Workshop is about holding space. It's a commitment to your inner self and your creativity and an invitation into a supportive community.

I am so grateful to be able to offer this six week journey and create a sacred space where we can disconnect from the chaos and hold space for ourselves and others and find healing in creativity and community. It's a place where the outside world fades away, and you're free to explore your inner landscape. There are moments of mindfulness, a chance to focus solely on the present and find support.

There's something comforting about being in a group of like-minded souls, all there to create and share. We learn from each other, inspire each other, and, most importantly, hold space for each other's creativity. It’s a community where everyone’s journey in both life and art are respected and celebrated.

So, if you're feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, consider joining me in the Fall Session of Personal Portraits. It might just be the perfect way to honour your creativity, and to find a bit of peace in this hectic world. Let me hold space for you.❤️

There will be space for only 40 women to ensure an intimate and powerful experience. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to connect with your creativity, form a special community and begin your journey toward deeper healing and artistic expression.

Are you ready to explore your story through art? In our upcoming Open Studio Self-Portraits taster session, you’ll get a hands-on introduction to the art of mixed media portraiture. This session is designed to give you a taste of the transformative experience that awaits in my full Personal Portraits live Zoom workshop.

What We’ll Do Together:

In this relaxed and supportive session, we’ll be creating a unique mixed media self-portrait. We’ll use a small photo of ourselves as the foundation, but this is more than just an art project—it’s a journey into self-discovery and healing. You’ll learn how to incorporate personal items and images that hold meaning for you, transforming them into powerful symbols within your artwork.

I can’t wait to create with you.❤️
